Strategic reshaping strengthens senior team at LawNet

by LawNet | May 20, 2026

LawNet has appointed sector specialist Karen Clarkson as head of community and communications, in its latest move to expand its influence across the SME legal sector.

Clarkson will support the next phase of the network’s growth, strengthening its position as a catalyst for collaboration and shared expertise among independent law firms, as it expands how it shares knowledge and expertise within its community, and across the sector.

She joins from Parker Bullen LLP, where she was marketing and business development director and brings extensive experience in law firm marketing, events and member engagement.  Her previous roles include nine years heading up marketing for LawNet member firm Warner Goodman LLP and member services for Dorset Chamber of Commerce.

A member-owned organisation, focused on shared benefit rather than commercial profit, LawNet supports a community of independent firms through collaboration, learning and business support, helping members strengthen performance and differentiate in their markets.

Welcoming the appointment, chief executive Helen Hamilton-Shaw commented: “Our community is a powerful force for knowledge sharing and insight, where practical tools exist to support business improvement and where new ideas are tested, challenged and made relevant to the realities of independent practice.

“Karen brings exactly the blend of experience we need as we build the next phase of LawNet’s development.  She has a unique perspective, understanding both the value of the network and the realities of running a law firm, making her ideally placed to add value for members and the leadership team.”

Clarkson said: “I’ve seen first-hand the strength of the LawNet community and the difference it can make to member firms.

“I’m excited to be taking on a role that is about creating even more opportunities for firms to connect, share experience and learn from each other, and to be working with the team to seek out new ideas that will help firms adapt and grow in a changing market.”

Hamilton-Shaw added: “The pace of change across the sector is significant, from technology to client expectations. Our focus is on helping members respond in a way that plays to their strengths, combining innovation with a personal, high-quality service to differentiate their firms.”
