Drive growth - Find new opportunities in a competitive market

Growing your law firm requires more than excellent legal advice. Our membership can provide you with the tools to win new work, strengthen client relationships, lead a comprehensive strategy, secure the right talent, and identify new opportunities.

Our Annual Conference and Awards Evening is the flagship event in our calendar. Well-known for bringing sought after speakers to the stage, there are countless ways that leaders within a law firm can benefit from this event. Whether it’s listening to our keynote presenters, collaborating in our breakout sessions, or meeting our preferred suppliers in person to discuss your firm’s needs, you will always leave our event with ideas and plans to move your business forward. Our Awards also give you the chance to showcase your practice, celebrate your successes, recognise your teams, and provide you with a differentiator in the market.

Understanding how your firm compares with others is an important part of planning for sustainable growth. Our annual financial benchmarking survey, delivered in partnership with PKF Francis Clark LLP, provides detailed financial and management insight, meaning firms can measure performance, identify trends and make informed strategic decisions.

One of the greatest strengths of our community is the willingness of members to support one another. Our collaborative culture creates a trusted environment where members openly share ideas, experiences and practical solutions. By learning from firms facing similar opportunities and challenges, members can make more informed decisions, avoid reinventing the wheel and uncover new ideas to grow.

LawNet members not only benefit from connections across the country. Our relationship with Eurojuris International as the only UK member enables firms to build relationships with their counterparts overseas, providing their clients with the added value of trusted recommendations for their matter.

The most successful firms do not simply provide excellent client service; they build their business around their clients. Our award-winning Mark of Excellence provides the practical guidance to help firms develop a client-centric strategy that strengthens relationships and drives long-term success.

Driving growth can only come after law firm leaders understand where they want to grow to, and how they will get there. Having an outside perspective, exploring the strategic issues shaping the legal sector, and accessing years of expertise from specialist advisers can all come from LawNet membership. Topics in the past have included succession planning, mergers and acquisitions, financial management, people strategy and business growth, with sessions always guided by priorities from our member firms.

We support marketing and business development teams through specialist learning, useful resources and professional marketing materials designed specifically for law firms.

From branding, social media, digital marketing, and client experience to business development strategy and bid writing, members can utilise expert guidance, discussion groups and content services that enable them to communicate their expertise.

Our bespoke ISO 9001 Quality Standard is a business improvement tool covering every aspect of a law firm. It incorporates the requirements of ISO 9001 and Lexcel, demonstrating how firms can embed best practice, improve consistency and demonstrate their commitment to quality, whether that is working with clients or colleagues.

We assist members throughout the accreditation process and contribute towards the cost of assessments. Firms wishing to achieve dual accreditation with Lexcel also receive financial contribution towards annual assessments.

Manage risk - Protect your firm in increasingly complex regulations

Managing risk is an essential part of running a successful law firm. As regulatory requirements continue to evolve and cyber threats become increasingly sophisticated, firms need to embed compliance into the way they operate.

We provide the expertise, practical support and trusted network to help you manage regulatory, operational and professional risk with confidence, protecting your people, clients and reputation.

Keeping pace with regulatory change requires ongoing insight and applicable guidance. Having the ability to ask experienced specialists can is invaluable, which is why we work with carefully selected compliance and risk partners, directing members to expert advice, consultancy, independent auditing and guidance across a wide range of regulatory and operational issues such as AI governance, anti-money laundering, cyber security, and COLP, COFA and MLRO responsibilities.

Members also receive regular compliance newsletters, Anti-Money Laundering updates and dedicated helplines, ensuring expert guidance is always close at hand.

Compliance, regulation and risk management remain a core part of our learning programme, with regular webinars, workshops and events covering the latest legal and regulatory developments. Alongside expert speakers, members benefit from the opportunity to discuss real challenges with peers facing similar issues, allowing firms to apply best practice.

Professional Indemnity Insurance is one of the most significant investments many law firms make. For more than 20 years, we have provided a unique, stable and consistent scheme designed specifically for member firms.

Often described as one of the most valued benefits of membership, insurers recognise that LawNet firms have a strong culture of risk management, supported by quality standards, specialist guidance and a commitment to continuous improvement.

For firms where it is appropriate, LawNet Insurance Company Ltd is also an option; our member-owned captive insurance company, offering a flexible and cost-effective approach to excess layer insurance.

The LawNet Quality Standard has been developed specifically for law firms. While it is a tool for the business as a whole, a key component of the standard relates to a firm’s Compliance department, providing extensive advice and guidance for this important function within a firm.

Save time and money - Make every investment count

Running a successful law firm means balancing increasing demands on both your time and your budget. Rising overheads, growing regulatory pressures and ongoing investment in technology leave little room for wasted time or unnecessary cost.

Your firm can make every investment count by reducing duplication, learning from trusted expertise and utilising the collective buying power of a nationwide network.

Being part of a network means benefiting from its collective strength. We negotiate exclusive arrangements with 55 carefully selected professional service providers, leading to a reduction in running costs. From technology and software to business services, marketing and consultancy, firms can enjoy preferential pricing and exclusive benefits.

Developing professional marketing materials and regular client communications can place significant demands on both time and budget. We provide a range of ready-to-use marketing resources designed specifically for law firms, ensuring members can maintain a professional presence without the cost of producing everything from scratch.

Members benefit from:

  • Business First, our professionally produced business magazine, published twice a year and available fully branded with firm's details at no additional cost.
  • Press and Content Services, providing high-quality legal content that can be adapted for newsletters, websites and client communications.
  • Client guides and brochures available as editable copy, branded PDFs or professionally printed materials.

Whether you have an in-house marketing team or limited marketing resource, these services save your firm time, reduce external costs and communicate consistently with clients.

One of the greatest benefits of membership is the collective knowledge and experience of our community. Members regularly share ideas, solutions and best practice, therefore avoiding duplication, and making informed decisions more quickly.

Alongside this, LawNetConnect provides various tools that support the day-to-day running of your firm and the development of your people, saving you time while benefiting from the experience of others.

LawNet's Professional Indemnity Insurance scheme is the largest group scheme of its kind for law firms, purchasing more than £1 billion of cover. Delivered alongside our specifically chosen and trusted providers, the scheme offers competitive terms, broad cover and long-term stability.

There is no risk sharing between member firms. Every firm is assessed on its own merits, with the benefits of the LawNet scheme applied afterwards. Combined with the network's commitment to quality and risk management, firms secure excellent value while maintaining assurance in the protection they receive.

Combined with our wider investment in quality standards, compliance and risk management, the scheme provides firms with long-term value alongside the protection they need.

Choosing the right supplier takes time and can involve significant investment. We work with over 55 carefully selected partners who understand the legal sector and the needs of aspirational law firms. Rather than spending valuable time researching the market, members can access trusted recommendations and proven providers with confidence.
